Northside played a huge part in Manchester’s early Nineties
soundtrack. Signed to Factory, the band were said to be the
bridge between the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays, and
they made their mark in the blooming ‘baggy’ scene.
Northside’s career sprung to life with the release of their first
single ‘Shall We Take A Trip’. The band’s 1991 third single,
‘Take 5’, reached the Top Five in the Billboard Alternative Songs
Chart and it also saw them appear on Top of the Pops that
June.
Produced by The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie (Echo & The
Bunnymen, Shack, The Coral, Texas), their album released in
1991 and peaked at Number 19 in the charts.
This 2025 expanded CD edition in four-panel gatefold digipak
features B-Sides ‘My Rising Star’ and ‘Moody Places’, radio
edits and new remixes from pop-music veterans The Reflex and
Leo Zero. Also contains a 24-page booklet with new liner notes
from John Robb.
The LP format is cut from the original Factory Records masters
onto solid green vinyl with restored artwork by Central Station
Design.
